HW10: Reasons Why You Should Not Play DOTA
There are many reasons why people play some games if they think that they can get something from these games. These reasons might be for leisure, advantages that a person can get or maybe just to be with friends and join them on what they want to do to have good relationship with them. But, there are also why reasons why people should not do such things and it depends on the person understanding about the thing. In playing Dota, there are advantages that player can get, but there are also reasons why people must not play the game because of the disadvantages that was brought by this.
According to the article, "Top Five Reasons You should not Play Defense Of The Ancients (DOTA)", by servantofgod, "There are hundreds of reason why you should not play Dota but the author stated his 5 top reasons.They are the following;
No. 5 Reason: It is a Waste of Time and Money
Playing Dota gives advantages, but disadvantages of this game overwrought these advantages. It is a waste of time and money because at the of each game, everyone lost their money to pay the rent for the shop. Waste of time for people who don't know and get advantages that Dota provides because instead of studying where they can really learn something, they waste their time in playing that gives them nothing because they don't feel what really is worth of their money. Instead of using the money on school project, you consume the money for this game which is less important compared to studies.
No. 4 Reason: It is Harmful in your Health
Playing long hours of Dota deprives a person on being active. The players who plays long hours would just burn your butt and seat not calories and fats. Spending too much time playing DOTA will lead to cardiovascular diseases, obesity, diabetes, muscular atrophy, visual problems, musculoskeletal problems, decreased immunity, and other diseases caused by sedentary lifestyle.
No. 3 Reason: It Destroys your Mental and Emotional Stability
This game somehow destroys a players mental and emotional stability because swearing and trash talking with other players. bullying the weaker player is always present in this. This game is frustrating and humiliating and players also become irritable and they also forget their priorities in life.
No. 2 Reason: It is Addictive
If you always play Dota, it means that you are addicted to this game because you always think that if you can't let the day pass without you playing it. It just like one you've started, you can't stop it so easily I tell you because as of my experience, I continue playing Dota since the first time I've played the game. It's also because of the new strategies that you see in every game of some professionals that you've observed and you like to be as good as them so you continue playing to be better. Dota is like illegal drugs but some don't feel the effects of playing this game.
No. 1 Reason: It is A Product of Evil
Dota is a product of evil because it is a game wherein killing is really the theme of the game. It also contains many elements which are against the bible. Each time we play DOTA is also a time we are feeding our minds with ungodly things. The expressions of each hero and the exclamation stated when you kill someone is a blunt evidence of swearing and an encouragement to kill more and more!
The effects of Dota are real and this game can affect you whether you know it or not. But, it up to whether you find Dota advantageous. It is really true that everything we do, advantages and disadvantages goes hand and hand. These game is advantageous but also disadvantageous because of the elements it have. However, it depends on people on how they think about Dota.

SUMMARY, CONCLUSIONS, AND
RECOMMENDATIONS
SUMMARY
This paper attempted to determine the advantages of mathematical and statistical knowledge provided to Dota players.
This research design used in the study is the descriptive informative research methods wherein data from articles, surveys and interviews were used to answer the research question posed. The research findings are the following:
1. Not all mathematical and statistical knowledge are distinguish well and gives advantages to players, which is affected by the factors that makes a player be better in playing Dota ant the applications of mathematics and statistics of Dota.
2. Mathematical and statistical knowledge in Dota gives advantages to players like psychological and social advantages which were acquired by playing the game.
3. Factors that makes a better player should also take in consideration as advantages provided to players which was determined by using statistical and mathematical knowledge.
4. These mathematical advantages can also be applied in other fields wherein these mathematical knowledge were provided in the mechanics by means of computations, assumptions, and probabilities.
5. There are also difficulties or disadvantages that mathematical and statistical knowledge pose in playing Dota despite of the advantages it provides such as psychological, physical and social disadvantages that players get in playing the game.
CONCLUSION
Based on the findings of this study, the following conclusions were drawn:
1. It is difficult to know where mathematical and statistical knowledge were applied in the game Dota because there are many mechanics to consider in the game.
2. In distinguishing the mathematical and statistical knowledge in Dota, the player must not aim to know where did these knowledge is applied because it is difficult especially statistics,instead, he/she should nfocus on getting the advantages that it provides.
3. Though players get advantages in playing Dota, they should also know the advantages that it brings in order that they can cope and they would know what should be prevented and take in consideration.
RECOMMENDATION
After drawing the conclusions of the study, the the researcher hereby make the following suggestions/recommendations.
1. In distinguishing the applications of mathematical and statistical knowledge in Dota, it is better that players must share some insights on how they can understand how these quantities and computations were made in order that players would easily know whatever application were there relative to these knowledge which is difficult but possible, so players can think of how the results of the things were.
2. Game planners and makers should make a research on how to make these applications of mathematical and statistical knowledge be visible that could be sources of information for future game planners and makers to be based upon.
3. On the other hand, researchers should also make and construct articles about some applications of mathematics to Dota, so that players could view and study thing for them to understand and know the things and application of these two knowledge in Dota.

HW8: Advantages of Playing Dota
In everything we do, we always get some benefits or advantages in it, but disadvantages always come with these advantages and we can never prevent it. All these advantages help us improve ourselves in the field that we trying to do or achieve. These advantages can make us be better and we are above others if we obtain some advantages that makes us more intelligent people.
In playing Dota, a person can get some advantages on it regardless of the disadvantages it may have.Playing games build and strengthen some of our weaknesses like in Dota, once a person starts playing, he/she will learn some things that he/she may use. In playing this game, players can get advantages from it.
Here are some advantages that a player can get in playing Dota.
Improves Players Critical Thinking Skills
Critical thinking is an important skill that you should have in playing games like Dota because it will help you cope with uncertainties that you may encounter while in the game. It helps us to get rid and overcome some critical situations in the game. A player must think critical on what he/she must do in order to come up with solutions to the situations. This game will improve your critical thinking whenever you encounter the same situations you've encounter while playing and it will improve more when you play often. Improvement of this will also make you a better player in Dota.
Improves Strategic Planning Skills
In playing Dota, player must have strategies to win the game, but these strategies must be able to counter your opponents strategies. Planning strategies in this game is very useful because it enables a player's plot to be more successful. Indeed, playing will improve a player's strategic planning skills because of his experiences in playing with other and it also helps the player to come up with strategies that is more essential in the game plan that will lead to the success of the team. This is very useful whenever you're playing the game because it helps you to cope with some situations and change your plans easily and try to manipulate your opponents.
Improvement on Leadership and Managerial Skills
In Dota, all of the players are the leaders because everyone try to come up with strategies that were followed by comrades in some situations as well as for some. It will improve your leadership skill more because whenever you're in a game, you sometimes leads your crew because they think that your capable with it, so have experience and as leader, you should lead them well and try to win the game. Managerial skill is also improved by players of this game because they manage their heroes elements and abilities such as how to manage your hero's mana in order to execute and use all skills and spells. You also manage your gold in order to buy the specific item that suites your hero's element or type. If you manage things, you will be able to play well and improve yourself on playing Dota.
Better Social Interaction
Dota also makes you to become more active on interacting with your co-players because you cooperate with the other in order to win the game. You will find new friends that will help you to be better at Dota and to gain knowledge about what strategies and plans do your comrades execute in the game and you also cooperate with it. You can also talk with them even though you don't know them and it improves your relationship with other players and make social interactions.

Gives Enjoyment and Serves as Leisure
Dota also gives enjoyment whenever you have nothing to do. It helps you to spend your free time on something that will give you some satisfaction and fun. It is the common leisure of some people including myself whenever boredom attacks.
Even Dota also have advantages on players,but people don't really appreciate and they don't mind about it. Playing Dota really brought advantages on us and it will help us became better in playing this game and you can also apply the advantages on some other things and I can say that they are useful.
HW7: Tips How to Become a Better Player in DOTA
In order to become better at something, one must know what steps to take in order to achieve what you intend to be. In becoming better, one must learn to act and do what should be done with the help of some guides and tips. In playing online games like Dota, you must learn to take some steps and eventually do something in order to become a better player. At first, I don't really know how to play Dota until I became interested in it and I really want to become a better because I feel jealous whenever I see people playing and they really play well. Then, I've started watching some games of the Dota players in our place and I also started practicing until I became better at it.
All of us can be better at things. In order to be a better Dota player, one must follow some tips on how to be better at playing Dota. There are seven tips on how to better at playing Dota. I've found this article entitled; "Seven helpful tips on how to become a better player", by Derek Gutierrez which really helps in order that a player will improve more in playing Dota.
Tip # 1: Do not try to get better at “Dota”. Instead, try to get better at “an element of Dota”.
This means that one must focus first on one thing in particular because it will help you to be focus on a single goal like last hitting. People intend to do everything at the same time which is not good for first timer because he/she will not know on what to focus more. Focus first on single element and if you think you're good at it, try another element because the key in order to better is taking things one at a time. The author said that," The only way to practice these aspects is just by playing the game itself and watching how professional players play them out. Improving on the basics first, however, will let you focus solely on the task at hand, allowing you become better at that certain aspect quicker than normal. This says that you must try the basics first before you proceed to another thing.
Tip #2: When you've gotten good at a lot of the same types of elements, combine them and learn how to balance them.
It tells that if you already good at lot of elements, combine them in order for you play the game well, but you also need to balance them and it is difficult at first. Practicing on elements once at a time is really a big help for you in order to combine things and make it much easier because you've already works on the timings. Just keep on practicing yourself with it before you join in match. Keep practicing on timings so that when you play against human opponents, you will adapt what you have practice and also watch the match of some professional players.
Tip #3: Make fewer changes and more adjustments.
Sometimes, people became dramatic when something starts to goes wrong. This style will not work because all you just need is to adjust details on the plan in order to become successful. Making some adjustment to your play style and tactics is more beneficial to players overall progress because these adjustments will allow you to continuously practice your core concepts on things all over again so that you will find what core concepts work best and you will be able to play well.
Tip #4: Do your homework
It means that you should read manuals and guides about different things about the game like on hero’s abilities, the layout of the map, typical item/skill builds and play styles on heroes, and anything else you think are useful. It will help to gather knowledge that will make you better prepared when you face different heroes and strategies in order for you to adjust in the game.
Tip #5: Seek help and learn from others
Don't be afraid to ask help from others even if they are your friends or some sort of strangers online because it will help you learn some things that a friend of yours knows about the game. You can also find and ask someone to coach you on playing in order for to become knowledgeable about it. Try to read some manuals about it like hero guides, strategy guides, and anything else under the sun!
Tip #6: Practice, practice, practice
Play some Dota games everyday, but if you don't have enough time to play multiple matches,then at least play one match a day in order for you to become consistent on it. Practice last hitting and denying, learn the mana cost, range, and animations of your spells, experiment with item builds, and read a few guides. If you go into a game and feel confident in your ability and do well, then great! That’s one less hero you will have to worry about learning. Practice makes perfect, so don’t slack off and work hard so that you can become much better at the game!
Tip #7: Don’t give up
It is easy to feel down and overwhelmed when learning Dota, but don't ever think of giving up. When having along streak of losses, don't feel down for yourself instead you examine every game and try to determine what goes wrong and you need to practice and focus more in order to play the game well and win. "You can't expect to win if you don't know how to lose." Once you continue hanging on and practicing, I'm sure that you will be hooked by this game and you will become a better players when you keep on practicing and improving yourself.
All of us, even though first timers, can be better at playing such things and games. You just need to put more effort on practicing and keep following some tips and steps on how to be better. Don't ever give up on what your trying to be because this will help you to work hard and try to achieve things even unexpected.

HW6: Survey Report

REPORT
In order to get the information needed for the research on the advantages of mathematical knowledge and statistical applications provided to DOTA players, the researcher conducts some interviews and surveys. The researcher conducts the survey to group of people who have the same interests and activities in order to achieve specifications and sort of controlled set-up. Most of the respondents are AC students who are inclined in playing DOTA. The researcher also had some interviews to ask some more specific questions concerning to what are asked in the survey. Follow-up questions were tackled in the interviews concerning the advantages of DOTA and other matters concerning applications of mathematics.
The first question in the survey asked about the advantages a player gets in playing DOTA. This question was intended to answer what advantages were got by the respondent in playing DOTA. 12 out 21 respondents claim improvement on strategic planning and critical thinking as the primary advantages, another 6 out of 21 respondents claim leisure and improvement of managerial skill and the other 3 respondents said fame.
This data is somewhat consider as a good sign for the researcher because most of the respondents remember the advantages that playing DOTA has.
With regards to comparison on players with good mathematical skills and to those players who are less skilled in playing the game, 85% of the respondents said that players with good mathematical skills really plays well because they can easily compute, think fast and respond to item costs, mana costs and others and 15% said that even though some are less skilled they play better because they use strong heroes.
As the researcher, I, myself, somehow expected some of the results. I had expected most of the respondents would answer improvement of critical thinking and strategic planning as the primary advantages that they get in playing DOTA. I didn't expect that most respondents would merely have the same answers in the results. My expectations about the advantages that a player can get in playing DOTA were improvement of critical thinking ability and strategic planning were really seen and established by the results.
